The healthcare industry needs scrub-strutting, straight-shooting, big-hearted phlebotomists (like you’re about to be).

Blue Rock's programs are designed to prepare students to draw blood gently and efficiently, so donors and patients can have as smooth and painless an experience as possible.

Our course includes 100 total hours of instruction, divided into 60 hours of theory/lab and 40 hours of hands-on lab training. Upon successful completion of the course, students will receive a certificate of completion.

Graduates of the Phlebotomy Technician Training Program are eligible to sit for a national phlebotomy certification examination, as applicable.

Prerequisites:

A Negative PPD Test (tuberculosis)

Phlebotomy Course Description

The Phlebotomy Technician Training Program will prepare students interested in careers in the healthcare field, specifically in the collection of blood specimens for laboratory testing and medical diagnosis. This course is designed for students who are interested in direct patient care and working in clinical settings such as hospitals, clinics, laboratories, and physicians’ offices. Students will learn proper venipuncture and capillary collection techniques, patient identification and preparation, infection control, safety standards, specimen handling, and documentation.

Emphasis will be placed on professionalism, communication, and providing care to diverse populations, including elderly patients, pediatric patients, and individuals with medical or cognitive challenges. Students who take this course will complete a minimum of 100 hours of instruction, consisting of 60 theory hours and 40 lab hours. Upon successful completion of the course, students will receive a certificate of completion. Graduates of the Phlebotomy Technician Training Program will be eligible to sit for a national phlebotomy certification examination, as applicable.
